Mary had a little labyrinth she stored in her heart No one could find a way in or out or tell the walls apart Everyone who was lost in it never came out alive In the depths lived the Minotaur, of light which it was so deprived
In the darkness it roamed, in the darkness it thrived In the darkness it consumed all thoughts derived It spoke in a whisper into her heart's ear A voice she always feared to hear
It said "you're not good enough, you'll never be, In it all you'll never see The light prepared for you, ever. Yet now I'll stay with you forever."
She listened and believed those words til now Those words became her being somehow In darkness she roamed, in darkness she thrived In darkness she consumed all thoughts derived
One day that labyrinth withered away The Minotaur's lair was gone that day Mary could hear and she could see And think so soundly she'd laugh with glee
Mary had a little labyrinth she stored in her heart A young shoot grew out for a new start
